DEIB Commitment

Our Commitment to Inclusion

At Francophone, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every student, family, and staff member feels valued, respected, and empowered. Our diversity is our strength, and we actively work to:

Celebrate Cultural Heritage

Through school events, curriculum integration, and community gatherings that honor every background represented in our community.

Provide Equitable Access

High-quality bilingual education for all students, regardless of background — because language access is a right, not a privilege.

Foster Cross-Cultural Understanding

Creating opportunities for students to learn from diverse perspectives in every classroom, every day.

Support Multilingual Families

Resources and communication in multiple languages to ensure all families can fully participate in school life.

Recruit & Retain Diverse Staff

Seeking educators who reflect the communities we serve — because representation matters in every classroom.

Address Bias & Promote Inclusion

Through ongoing professional development and curriculum review that confronts inequity and centers belonging.

OUR HOME

Rooted in Oakland

While our staff and families come from around the world, we are proud to call Oakland home. Many of our staff members were born and raised in the Bay Area, and we are deeply committed to serving the diverse Oakland community.

We honor the rich cultural heritage of Oakland — from its African American legacy to its vibrant Latino, Asian, and immigrant communities — and we see our school as part of the broader tapestry of this remarkable city.

Our students benefit from a unique combination: global perspectives rooted in local community values. They learn that diversity is not just about where we come from, but about how we come together.

Join Our Community
